Where else can you get an ice coffee with Almond milk and a breakfast sandwhich for under 8.00 in this city?! Well, and least have it be delish. I love the cranberry cafe. All the girls that work there are friendly and hard working. Sure, sometimes the line can be long at rush hour breakfast times, but call ahead or order online. If the place is good, it should be busy!

After capping off a run around the water, we popped in on a Saturday morning to try and quench our thirst and hunger. The cute little café has maybe 10 or so tables inside and 2 outside, so plenty of seating if you get here early. The young staff behind the scenes weren't as friendly as I had expected which knocked it down a star. The café we ordered was a bit too WATERY as well and the smoothie DIDN'T taste like fresh fruit was used in it and really didn't do it for us. The one highlight here was definitely the pumpkin spiced bagel with cream cheese that was so GOOD. If I were ever in the area, I wouldn't expect much friendliness from the service but would order the bagel again.

Never have gotten my delivery under 1 1/2 hours. Usually closer to 2 hours, which is ridiculous. The 2nd star is for their home fries. Those are pretty great

We ordered a bacon egg & cheese on a wrap and this is what we got! We paid full price and got what looked like a half of a wrap with almost nothing in it!

Ordered delivery from GrubHub: The home fries were DELISH! I ordered the chicken salad sandwich (comes with chips but the details on GH don't tell you that). Delivery was about 30 minutes early. Will definitely order again!

I've only been here once, but I'd like to go again to give it another try. The snickerdoodle coffee was EXCELLENT. The restaurant interior is very cute. The sandwich I had wasn't great and the wait was pretty long (about 20 minutes and we were the only ones there at the time). I'd like to try some of their other things, like their breakfast, before deciding not to go back.

    (2)
  • Boris R.

The food is good, but they DO NOT DO DELIVERY. They are on Foodler saying they do, but they are consistantly 90+ minutes for delivery, so they might have someone with a car that works there, but they don't deliver. This has happened about three times to me (once they lost my order) and now I have learned my lesson. So buyer beware: 1-2 hour delivery times and maybe you'll get a sorry.

Two stars for the coffee. Unfortunately just had one of the worst breakfast sandwiches I've ever had - bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel, but the bagel was burnt and I think they microwave their eggs (not scrambled like Boston Bagel, more like sunny side up but...microwaved). The bacon was wilted, and cheese just got lost in the dryness of the bagel. Considering its proximity to Sidewalk Cafe (go there instead if you're hungry) and Boston Bagel Company, you would think they would up their game with breakfast sandwiches.

  • Amanda F.

Not worth the wait, head to American provisions for better food and better service

Quick service and my to go bag had a smile on it :) Everything bagel was thick and had lots of cream cheese--more is better than less!

I was all excited when I saw their sandwich board w/ the different smoothie options. I hate to say this but this had to be the worst smoothie I have ever had. I like supporting small, local businesses but not a fan of this place. It's small & cute w/ nice artwork on the walls & has loads of potential. I also don't understand why they don't have prices on their menu board. Are you supposed to guess how much something is or you trying to rip people off?

  • Christina H.

This place is getting a bad rep on Yelp. Their coffees are delicious and they have so many great options especially if you are looking for something on the healthier side for breakfast or lunch (Oatmeal and Kale smoothies). I think it's a refreshing change from the other coffee shops. Consider me a fan!

I've been going to this awesome spot since it opened(17-18 years) Love the sandwiches, coffee and great atmosphere. Oreo Blasts are the BEST! Cathy is awesome and I'm glad she's kept everything fresh and tasty for so long! Love to sit outside in the summer when it's nice for breakfast. TBH-the ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is sometimes(VERY RARE) the girls mix up the coffee when it's SUPER busy-not 100% their bad but walking away and then taking a sip of the wrong flavor is a big letdown.

    (4)
  • Casey S.

This place is awesome!! The fact that you can order online and it's at your doorstep in 10 mins is worth the five stars alone! The breakfast sandwiches were amazing as well as the fruit smoothie!!!

I stopped in earlier this week one day before work. Cute place. The breakfast sandwich with cream cheese was very good. I think if you are going to offer iced coffee it obviously needs to be ready by the time you open. The girl offered to pour warm coffee over a full cup of ice. Um no. This was in response to me asking for light ice and her saying it has to be full of ice because it is still warm. So you want to charge me for almost no coffee and mostly ice. I asked for a dark roast, which was not that good, as too light coffee tastes watered down, and you can't even put your own cream in it. The area in the back where the microwave is would be a good place to leave out cream and milk so people can do it themselves or even buy the mini half and halfs. I also asked for some coffee cake. Now on the menu it says it is around $1.70. I was charged $3. When I asked about it she said the one in the case is gluten free. Ok but if it is in a plastic, labeled case why is the price not right on there so people know it costs more. Why would I think the price is different than on the menu? You always honor your listed prices, period. I don't need gluten free, just whatever coffee cake I see on the counter. No reason for that. She said sorry for the confusion but the appropriate response is We will fix it. An essential reply of too bad doesn't go over well with customers. The girl was friendly but that is still not great customer service. Breakfast is easy to come by in Southie. I am really not that picky but these are pretty basic things any cafe needs to have down. I work nearby so I may stop in again sometime but work out the coffee and pricing please.

After waiting 2 hours for a breakfast delivery (2 sandwiches), which included me checking in on the status twice (I mean, 2 hours?) and being hung up on and spoken to rudely, the sandwiches just showed up- one was entirely wrong (bacon not sausage), covered in salt, and cold, regardless of the foil it was wrapped in (prob cuz it took 2 hours). Done with this place, that's for sure. Oh and the delivery bag had my boyfriends name on it with a big sarcastic smiley face - I am assuming this was an attempt to add salt to the wounds ... Pun intended. Oh and it took 2 hours.

    (1)
  • Jon F.

My girlfriend and I called in 2 breakfast sandwiches for delivery at 830. We called back at 930 to check the status of the order and they said "it was on the way." We waited another 45 minutes and called again since we only live two minutes from the restaurant. This time they were much less friendly and seemed annoyed that we were calling for an update after waiting almost 2 hours. To boot, they hung up in my girlfriends face after saying "he just left." Hmm, that's interesting, he just left again? Though we may sound lazy for ordering delivery from a place two minutes away, if you're providing the option you should provide the service. This is the last time we will be giving cranberry cafe our business.

Wide array of coffee choices with quick turnaround time. If you're in the mood for a breakfast sandwich, try the egg, bacon and cheese on an English muffin. I also love the tiny tuna as a light option. Only drawback and the reason for 4 stars is they close early so an evening coffee is out.

Needed a place to hang after I landed in Boston but before my friend got off work. She recommended Cranberry Cafe for their coffee and free wifi. Easy to find after taking the 7 bus from South Station. Ordered a smoothie, paid, found a seat and a magazine (love how they had them by each table). It was busy and it looked like there were only 2-3 workers, but it took a while for my smoothie to come out. The girl did apologize for it taking so long, so I appreciate that. But then it wasn't really a smoothie. It was more like melted frozen yogurt with chunks of peanut butter. Not blended that well as each bite was different - some chunky, some liquid. I sat there for a while and read their magazine. Overall it is a really cute little shop, and seemed like a popular spot for locals. I'd give it another shot for food if I'm ever in the area.

Tremendous opportunity dampened by apathy is how I would summarize this review. Cranberry used to be worth the line. Lately the line has been short and there's a reason for that. The service has always been slower than expected at a coffee shop but lately it's gotten worse and the quality has gone with it. If I wanted to wait 10 minutes for a slightly soggy "toasted" bagel that I had to cream cheese myself I'd probably go across the street to the grocery store. I have kept going back hoping that management would take interest in the dwindling customer base they are losing to sidewalk cafe, boston bagel and java house but they don't seem to care. In my most recent experience (and likely my last), I waited 11 minutes for a bagel that came with a side of cream cheese that turned out to be sour. Disappointing to say the least. With the recent departure of Kirsty, this place seems to have fallen apart. This review is a last ditch effort to catch the attention of management. Breakfast is my favorite meal and critical to the start of a good day. Cranberry used to be one of my favorite places to kick off a Saturday. Good coffee, great breakfast sandwiches and delicious smoothies. Sad to say it seems its on its way out due to apathy and no attention to detail. You want a recommendation? Go to Boston Bagel Co. The line is long but you will probably be in and out in the same amount of time (with a delicious bagel and coffee to boot!)

  • Matt D.

I stop in for breakfast at least once a week, more often for the delicious coffee. The girls behind the counter work hard and always have smiles on their faces. The general population can be difficult, they handle busy crowds with the best of them, especially on the weekends!

    (5)
  • Colleen L.

I used to love Cranberry, until recently. They have really stopped caring. I purchased a fruit cup, and all the fruit was rotten. The coffee is always burnt, and ALWAYS has grounds in it. They need to stick to breakfast sandwiches. I'm sad for them.

    (2)
  • Susan C.

I can always depend on my coffee being hot, ready, and served with a smile! Need breakfast? Try the egg white omelet with tom and feta. Delish!!

  • Emily M.

I stopped by today for a jumbo iced coffee (dark roast). Not only was it 90% ice, but it tasted like some sort of vinegar. The taste was overpowering. I couldn't drink more than a sip. I wish I had tried it before walking all the way home -- it wasn't worth walking back, so I just threw it out.

  • Tullu N.

First, I have enjoyed my breakfast from here before. That said, the past few times I've been there I have been horribly disappointed with rock hard bagels, messed up orders and the worst homefries I think I've ever had. I am also consistently disappointed with the service, they have good coffee and therefore are often busy but can't seem to get an order complete in less than 5 mins. You would think they might have the hang of it by now. Lastly, twice now, a guy from the kitchen has come to the front during busy times and made some seriously offensive remarks to the women working... Do me a favor guy, make the food I ordered 15 mins ago and keep your incredibly sexist comments to yourself.

  • Mary B.

The food at Cranberry Cafe is great! I often get the skinny Minnie breakfast sandwich. Tuna melt or salad for lunch. The reason for 3 stars is that the wait for food is often 30+ minutes for food. Call your food order in!

  • Ken A.

Stopped into Cranberry Café for a Coffee before the St. Patrick's day parade. The staff was friendly, the food was great and the coffee was HOT. We'd come again!

  • Kathleen C.

If you live locally, Cranberry Cafe is convenient and the staff friendly and efficient. The food is decent--nothing special. But it is a good lunch spot.

    Excellent breakfast cheap.

  • Rob C.

In the final analysis, if this place was really that worthwhile, it'd be in the regular rotation in my office. Two stars is a bit unfair, but three isn't quite right either. The sandwiches are okay; they're interesting, somewhat creative, and fairly tasty, but not overwhelmingly so. The flip side is that they take the better part of forever to make them, and you'll probably still be hungry despite spending the better part of $10. Sometimes we go here for a change, but afterwards i'm just reminded that i'm simply not that enthusiastic about it. It might be better for breakfast and cafe type stuff. Don't let me steer you away, i just don't want you to get your hopes up, you know?

    (2)
  • G V.

The girl in the morning rushes the order no matter.. it could just be me and her in there and she whips my coffee together throws my change at me and runs away.. calm down, give me my order with care!

  • Mark B.

Good iced coffee but the food is mediocre and it takes so damn long. Never an in and out for a breakfast sandwich...

    (3)
  • Maureen D.

Went here for lunch and sat at the counter. There were 4 women working the whole cafe. Service was prompt and curt. The menu isn't extensive but has a reasonable variety of healthy, tasty and splurgy options. My request for an onion-free sandwich wasn't honored, and I had to listen to the dishwasher running or being emptied the whole time (just behind the counter), but overall the experience ended with good food in my belly in a short time.

  • Sonya C.

Great for healthy options in Southie, since there aren't many places that have those kinds of offerings in the neighborhood. I love the snow white egg white sandwich- but agree with other reviewers that the service is extremely slow. Takeout is faster than sitting and eating.

    (3)
  • Kallie F.

The service here is terrible. You get the impression that you have to be a "local" to get the staff to greet you and promptly take your order. With Southies continued gentrification, the "locals" are going the way of the dodo. The food and coffee is also just OK. So the combination of ho hum all around just compels you to go elsewhere. Hopefully they will figure it out. Otherwise they will gentrify with the rest of the sub standard businesses that dot Broadway.

    (2)
  • Leah M.

The breakfast sandwich is good, but the coffee is weak, watered down and so hot that it burned my mouth. I have yet to find good hot coffee in Southie. I just moved to Boston and people here seem to love sweet iced coffee. I have to take the T to Cambridge to get a good cup of joe.

    (1)
  • B B.

Pass. Food is subpar. The employees are rude as well. Perhaps they hire from the RMV.

    (2)
  • Amanda G.

I love their coffee!!! The hazelnut iced coffee is my favorite, and I definitely recommend it. I have also had their food, the egg sandwich and home fries were great!! It is a small place, and can get pretty busy and crowded, so its not the best place for a nice sit down breakfast, but the service is fast, so if there is a line, it moves quickly.

    (4)
  • Alyssa B.

If I'm being honest, this place always disappoints me. Turkey in the turkey wrap is low quality deli meat. I asked for avocado, I think they put about an ounce in my sandwich. Wrap is TINY for the price. Also asked for an iced americano... watery shots with no flavor, then topped with SO much cream that my coffee was basically stark white. Gross. Some of the worst money I've spent.

    (2)
  • Enday G.

I ordered food, the bill was higher. When I pointed out that it doesn't match the price on the menu, I was told: "yes, we know about it". Seriously?!

  • Bry J.

Just received my delivery order 5 minutes ago. We should have known what the food was going to be like after the bag the food came in smelled like a piece of raw chicken. Ordered a bagel sandwich, toasted with cheese and sausage. The bagel wasn't toasted, the sausage was the size of a quarter and the whole thing was just a soggy mess. Ordered a Gatorade, unfortunately this was the only thing that arrived warm. Sorry Cranberry Cafe, but if you can't get a bagel sandwich right, or even get a Gatorade right then you don't get more than 1 star.

I can't technically review the food of the Cranberry Cafe, because I've never eaten there. But I've tried. Twice. When I say tried, I've walked in. Sat down. Made eye contact around 10 times with the two girls chatting behind the bar over the course of 15 minutes, and then left. Twice. Same experience. I'd love to try the food, as I've heard it's good, but this place has a serious management problem.

  • Chuckie T.

Hate to write this, but whoever is working in the kitchen today (12/23) should be fired. Without hesitation. Ordinarily love the buffalo chix wrap, but today was inedible. Come on. It wasn't even wrapped properly.

  • Meghan M.

I'm so happy to have a little cafe so close to home. As far as I know, there aren't too many of these in Southie so Cranberry is a gem. I have only had their iced coffee and breakfast sandwiches. They have skim milk (bonus!) and the iced coffee was big and tasty. The breakfast sandwiches are really good. The egg white, tomato and cheese one is my favorite. The ingredients are SUPER fresh and it's HUGE! I couldn't eat the entire thing. The bread was fantastic...it tasted homemade and like it just came out of the oven. Overall, Cranberry is a neat place to hang out, read a book and enjoy some good food/drink. (And if they had wireless, I'd give them 5 stars!)

  • Rebecca D.

I am a little shocked at the low reviews I have seen here. My experience(s) though few have been quite positive. I have visited this establishment several times and each time am impressed with this small business. It is in a word charming. The food is good and reasonably priced. I especially like the close atmosphere where the staff is genuine and personable. I observed many regulars coming and going and the staff taking great care with each customer regular or not. I am not often in the area but will continue to make an effort to come in when I am. Here is hoping others will have the kind of experience I have had.

Ohh, how happy I am to have found this place! After giving up on finding anything cute in Southie... I discovered Cranberry Cafe and am in love with it. Always looking for better places to spend my money than Sbux... I was delighted to try a sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel and a chai tea. Very yummy and prices are decent. Their iced coffees are pretty good too. The ladies behind the counter work their tails off. The decor inside is super cute. All around a really nice local spot with good food, and good service. I will try and frequent this place as often as I can before I get the heck outta Southie!

    (5)
  • Mimi M.

Pros: Very good coffee and breakfast sandwiches One of the only coffee shops in Southie which accepts credit cards and levelup Cons: The service is very slow, and very cold. The girls who work there are clearly more interested in talking to each other than helping customers. All in all, good coffee, decent prices, just don't go in there if you are in a hurry.

    (4)
  • Christina G.

I know they serve lunch here, but for me it's strictly an early morning option. They serve great coffee and make delicious muffins, coffee cakes etc. I've never sat down for an actual breakfast here because it's always jammed packed, but I have tried their egg sandwiches to go and they are great!

  • Charles F.

Cranberry cafe is in a great location & has great food but with Terry's Place closing they can't handle the business! Went two weeks ago and waited to get a sandwich & 2 coffees; waited in line for about 10 minutes and then waited 20 minutes for breakfast sandwiches! Food was great but so slooowwww.. So I gave them another chance, this time I called in my order at 10:13am- I was in line starting on the CURB at 10:25 for 20 minutes. Everyone was angry in line and the food was cold! Cranberry Cafe needs to get their act together or they are going to lose business. Open a 2nd cashier for coffees only and take out orders so that people don't have to wait all day! Again the food is great but no one wants to wait in line for 20 minutes! In the same amount of time, I can buy the ingredients & make it myself!

  • Espresso T.

Got a cup of coffee here and unfortunately it is so bad that I can't even say I would consider coming back (although I have never tried the other things on their menu). The coffee was watery and nothing special, but what killed was that the the person making the coffee put way too much sugar in my coffee making it almost undrinkable.

  • Janet D.

Good food great service even my 2 little kids like it there.

  • Hillary M.

I almost wish I HADN'T stopped here for a coffee to go this morning because it was SO GOOD. And now I will have to go back. And that will make me poorer and probably fatter because whenever I have the delicious coffee (decaf that is actually decent!) I will have to get a muffin. An outstanding, delicious, decadent, HUGE muffin that is also quite reasonably priced. I tried the new pumpkin spice and the coffee cake muffins and both were amazing. Customer service was fast and friendly. I also like that they have a water dish outside for the dog.

If ever the phrase "[i]t is what it is" ever applied to a breakfast joint, Cranberry Cafe would be top of the list of candidates. We got there around 11am on a Sunday morning and easily found a table. What we didn't find was a server, for 15 minutes. It was only when we were perusing Yelp for another option that one of the young women working behind the counter 10 feet away from us came over to very nicely ask if we'd ordered anything yet. I got a basic morning egg sandwich with sausage and cheese on a bagel while my wife got the "firealarm", basically an egg sandwich with bacon and tabasco on a croissant, and two house blend coffees. The coffee was straight up terrible. It took 15 minutes for the food to come out. The sandwiches were OK but nothing I couldn't make at home, except for the sesame bagel which was REALLY good. It took going up to the counter to ask for our check, and then bringing it back up to the counter to hand it in, before we could leave. Overall, the staff are friendly enough though their age and experience clearly impacts attentiveness. There doesn't appear to be a service system in place so be prepared to wait if you're sitting. The kitchen is far too slow for a breakfast joint but the results are decent, but not special. Avoid the coffee. "A place to eat", indeed.

It's like a breakfast "Cheers". Great food, friendly staff, wish they were open a little later but early bird seems to catch the worm.

Delicious muffins are found here. I love muffin top. Maybe everyone here is upset from all the double-parking, or maybe it's all the dog shit on the sidewalks. I don't really know. Either way, people's attitudes really stink. You know what doesn't stink? The food doesn't. It's awesome. What's more, the coffee is good. The bagels and muffins are fresh and the prices are just right too.

My rating is based on a single experience, but I have no doubt I will be back to this establishment. I went in for an afternoon caffeine fix. The barista greeted me with a smile and took my order. As she fixed my iced coffee (which was fabulous), I spotted a frosted muffin. Upon inquiring as to its identity, learned that it was a cinnamon coffee cake muffin. It came home with me, and was definitely worth the calorie splurge. Although I have not had the opportunity to try any yet, the sandwich menu looks great and includes some healthy options.

  • Kelley M.

Cute place, dog friendly. There is usually a line on the weekend. I would rather wait in this line as opposed to the Sidewalk Cafe. This place has espresso unlike Sidewalk. My favorite thing to get here is the grilled cheese with tomato and bacon!

    (3)
  • Jeff L.

Coffee's generic at best. Definitely not waiting in the monstrous lines this place has on the weekend and some weekdays for ok coffee. Java House has way better coffee and service.

  • Alex I.

The Cranberry Cafe is a great stop for a coffee. A must try are the breakfast sandwiches.

    (4)
  • Katie B.

When I get coffee here, I'm always confused about how much it costs. The price changes from day to day, but the one constant is that it's overpriced. Go to Java House up the street next to the Court House--your wallet and taste buds will thank you. My food orders always seem to get screwed up here. When that has happened, I've pointed it out and explained what I actually ordered. The cashiers/waitresses have had the nerve to argue with me and tell me that's NOT what I ordered. Why would I send my food back if I had gotten what I wanted? So much for the customer always being right. The girls who work here seem to be very nice to you if you are a) male or b) someone from the neighborhood whom they know. If you're anyone else, they're just plain cold to you. Major attitude adjustments are needed all around. To sum up, AVOID. You can get better coffee at Java House, and you can make your own breakfast at home for half the price and end up eating what you actually want without dealing with a surly staff.

Banana hazelnut coffee and yummy eggwhite breakfast sandwiches! Delish

  • Shannon H.

The food is very good. The prices and service leave room for improvement. I really like their Chia tea but it is the same that you can buy from the grocery store in the liquid container. I think its just that they add the steamed milk that makes it taste so good (I won't be steaming my milk at home anytime soon.) They sometimes screw up your order (I have even had bad cream cheese served to me on my bagel) but i think that mistakes happen with any small business when they are busy. I like that they offer a few healthier sandwiches on their menu with the weight watcher points included for those of us often on a diet.

While absolutely adorable and the kind of cafe I want to open up when I'm RECH and capable... dude. I have a bone with pick with you. I asked what comes in the honey and vanilla latte. If, by honey and vanilla, they mean actual honey and vanilla syrup. She said no... I said pardon? And she said "there's espresso and milk too." I think we started off on the wrong foot. I laughed and said "I figured. Okay well I want one. Small. With skim milk." She said sure. And then she told me the machine wasn't working. But she could make it iced. So then I asked her how she could make it iced but not hot. Then she said she didn't know. That she turned off the machine and she had no idea why she turned it off and then offered me an espresso based drink. Uh huh. ?! So then I asked for a hot coffee. She asks me if I want it iced. Nope, hot will do, thanks. And I get my coffee. And my cranberry muffin although she seemed overwhelmed by the options of muffins in front of her. I think I stressed the girl out. $3.75 for a medium coffee and a muffin. Not bad, I guess. Muffin was food. Except it was cranberry, orange, and walnut. I do not care for orange flavored things but I was already on the bus eating it. And my coffee was lukewarm. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, YOU ADORABLE LITTLE CAFE. I'll be back here in three weeks, post-wax. I expect hot coffee... or, I don't know. A competent barista.

I love this place! You can order take out for breakfast or you can order your food and eat there. They have healthy low fat options and all at a reasonable price. I have breakfast and lunch here and it's always good food. There should be more places like this!

Was initially excited to find this spot when I moved to Southie - wow, they have avacodos and wraps and other non-pizza/sub things! Haven't been impressed by their food, but it's not terrible either. Their hours are funny, kitchen closes pretty early. Def a cute spot to grab a coffee and pastery, and read or meet a friend. Outdoor seating, too. Their coffee is okay, service can be questionable - often young girls that seem distracted and don't give off the friendliest vibes...

The Cranberry Cafe is good. The food is always fresh and tasty and the coffee is FRESH! I stop in almost daily for coffee on my way into Boston (much better than Starbucks!) or breakfast on the week-end. I just added another star. When I went in today the woman at the counter knew what I wanted without me asking.

  • Jess H.

I absolutely love the food at this place...delicious tuna, chicken salad or any other sandwich meat on a warm croissant? count me in! Unfortunately, the reason for the 3 stars is due to the awful service and time management. I've been here several times and not once have I been able to get a simple order fulfilled within 30 minutes. No exaggeration: 30 MINUTES! Last time I went in, there weren't too many people there, it was a short line, but it could have moved much quicker if it weren't for the girls behind the counter simply chatting to each other about their weekends instead of paying attention to the customers. The poor old lady in front of me was waiting almost 10 minutes just to get a coffee. I wanted to jump over the counter and pour it for her before she had a stroke. By the time I got to the front of the line and put in my order (which I had to repeat three times, each slower than the first so she could keep up) the girl says "just so you know, it'll be about 35 minutes". Are you kidding me? 35 minutes for a simple sandwich? I told her to forget it and she got upset that she had to cancel the order. Not like she had put it into a computer or anything, she just wrote it down. Sorry you can't figure out how to throw a piece of paper away. Try telling the kitchen staff to hurry the F up and customers won't get upset about the ridiculous wait time. Maybe if they hired some people who understood the importance of efficiency, especially in a known breakfast place where people usually like to be in and out quickly for coffee, it would have better reviews. It's too bad, considering this could be a 5 star rated place on yelp based on just the food. Management needs to take a long look at how their business is being handled. *Isn't it funny how the owner only comments on positive reviews with high starred ratings?

This is my favorite little cafe in Southie, and because my girlfriend lives around the corner we come here all the time. I guess this a bit bias because i've only had the Chicken Caesar Wrap but when I tell you it's amazing I mean it. Perfect amount of dressing, nice soft wrap, fresh crisp lettuces, crispy crutons, and good chicken. I hate how some places cook the chicken and put it the wrap right away making the lettuces soggy and hot. They use room temp. chicken and it's perfect. I've gotten one almost every day the past week...they're addicting. Very friendly service, cosy little dining area, just an all around great place. I usually order as Gabriel because Gabe usually gets confused with Dave, but they write Gabe on the bag with a little smiley face anyway...nice personal touch that will keep me coming back. My girlfriend loves the muffins and coffee as well. Hopefully I can stray away from the wrap sometime and try something new because everything looks really good. Thanks for all that you do cranberry, and I'll be back very soon!

OK - so I used to live on top of Sidewalk - and over the 2 years I lived there I dumped SO much money in that place. They had some good stuff - but I'll save that for another review. The point is - about 2 months ago I decided to go to Cranberry - I had never gone there before, it was close - but not as close as Sidewalk. Once I went in - I was hooked. Friendly and efficient staff (I spilled my coffee all over the counter by the register - it was early - and they gladly gave me a new one - without shaming me but also without holding up the long line behind me), really good iced coffee (that's all I drink), and great breakfast sandwiches that aren't too greasy! AND - they put cream cheese on BOTH sides of the bagel - not just on half and then smush it together like i'm going to eat it for lunch. They also happily accept credit cards, they don't sigh when I bust out my debit and they don't add on a dollar charge. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because I had an awkward omelet there once - good ingredients - just not cooked right. My conclusion is that I would go 5 minutes out of my way - PASS Sidewalk - and go to Cranberry every morning. Sadly, I moved to the west side last week so Cranberry will now just have to be a treat when I'm in the area. I'm not going to go THAT far out of my way every morning :)

Good place for a quick breakfast or lunch. Their food I think is very good, wish they had a bigger breakfast menu but overall their service is quick and for the price its worth the trip.

I've gone here a couple times for lunch and everything has been great every time. It's a small place in southie, but it has bar seating and a couple tables. The coffee is great (iced or hot) and they have lots of sandwiches. I've gotten the tuna melt and the McGarvey (I think that's what it was called). It had grilled chicken, bacon, mustard, cheese, lettuce - awesome. Then you get it on their foccacia bread which tastes mroe like a biscuit in bread form - oh. man. so. good. I got the tomato, motz, and basil and it was okay, but I wish it had buffalo motz - otherwise great! I would definitely recommend this place for lunch. Even if there is a line, it moves pretty quickly and the prices are good!

    $4 for a cappuccino? Really? Your coffee is $1.50. . . seems a little high. .

The longer i live in Southie, the more I love it. I have recently started spending more time on the east side during the day, and came across Cranberry Cafe. Their coffee is the best I've had in a while. It was perfect. The staff were nice, really attentive and quick. Great for the morning coffee run. I recently had a salad for lunch from them, i had the spinach salad with walnuts, cranberries and gorgonzola. it was delish! i heard they made their own vinegrette too, which is a nice touch. I hate corporate coffee, and this is another great place to get a cup of joe with out the obnoxious corporate B.S. Thank you southie for resisting Starbucks!!

Knocking it up a star for the AMAZING breakfast sandwich - HUGE (I had to take off half of the bagel!) and absolutely oozing with cheese and fresh egg and so decadent.

The thing I like best about Cranberry cafe is the coffee is always fresh. I hate when you go somewhere at an odd hour like 2pm say and the coffee tastes like it been sitting for ever. The flavored coffee is delish esp Snickerdoodle aka Snick! The other great thing is the yogurts. Its vanilla yogurt with either blueberries or strawberries with granola and almonds. Very tasty, and healthy!!!!! The girls that work there are very nice too!

Cranberry cafe I heart you! This South Boston gem has all of the elements a local coffee house should have: A smile with your not-so-overpriced coffee- -cool but simple decor-- an owner that greets you when you walk in and knows just about everyone by name--a REAL breakfast menu---yummy lunch sandwiches ---and the best damn soy latte I've every had.... Local flavor galore.....if you haven't ventured out to southie .....you must --and when you do, stop in for a coffee or quick bite...before or after you've spent all your money in my new favorite clothing store-- HABIT!!!

Okay, so I've gone into this little place numerous times and quite frankly, the staff is terrible. There are one or two people that try to be somewhat polite, but as a whole the staff needs an attitude adjustment. One time, I asked for a coffee and they slammed it down in front of me, with coffee dripping down the sides. I had to find some napkins to clean it up myself. They are so unpleasant, some of the staff in our office have started going to 7-11 for their coffee just so they can be treated nicely. In regards to the food- their lunch menu is nothing special, their chili is terribly bland, and their soups are the same I've had a good sandwich or two but as a whole the food is pretty blah. I've stopped trying with this place- really; if you don't care about service or taste, then maybe you'll like it.

Decent breakfast, considering how tiny the place is. I ordered the egg white sandwich with cheese and tomato on and english muffin and it was good, very simple but not outrageously priced. I also had oatmeal, which was instant and a little disappointing. The girls behind the counter weren't especially friendly but they weren't mean or anything. It was fine.

I don't know what everyone is talking about, the coffee is awful. If the coffee turns very light when a little skim milk is added, it is poor quality. It tastes like water. The food takes forever and the line is slow moving.

For a cafe in Southie, this place is really good. Whenever we go there I usually get a turkey sandwich and it is piled high in between two pieces of thick fresh bread. The egg sandwiches there are a little bit messy, but they are delicious. And if you do not like coffee, the drink to have there is the Oreo Blast which is great during the summer.

I guess the rest of the counter and I will continue to stare off in space while you chat about "that girl who's absolutely effing ridiculous, god!" To be honest, we were going to get brunch at Terrie's, which I LOVE, but the line was too long a couple of Saturdays ago. I always Cranberrys on the bus, so I thought I'd give it a try.. all those people with the yummy looking coffees, sure why not. Well, we stood in line for a solid 3-4 minutes (which seems a long time when no one's in front of you, and you can't comprehend what the counter people are doing besides gossip) before we- there were four of us- go any service. Oh, and we've all been waitresses before, so we know the little signals to watch for.. try to catch someone's eye.. put the menu down in front of you.. or just stand right in front of the cash register with a look of "I'm ready to order" on your face. Anyyyyyway, as you can see I'm a food service brat... their coffee was great. I got a frozen vanilla coffee drink; it was amaaazing. Their egg and cheese was great on a homey bagel, and my friend said her egg whites/tomatoes on wheat was great. Sooo I gave it three stars.

Cranberry's is my go-to breakfast place on the weekends. I'd say that's pretty much true for a good portion of Southie as well, judging by the often out-the-door line here on weekends. It's a good mix of locals and newbies; it's got a nice sunny, bustling feel to it.They have great coffee and awesome egg sandwiches, and the service, while not overly friendly, is efficient and competent. They do accept call-in orders, which can speed things up if you want your order to go.

By far the best place to have a quick breakfast in Southie. I went there for the first time after voting on Tuesday. I ordered a multi-grain bagel with cream cheese. When I took a bite of it I had flashbacks of eating a good NY bagel. I did not try the coffee since I went to a Starbucks to get my free one. They also serve sandwiches which are all written on huge clack boards above the counter. I cannot wait to go back to try many of them. Cranberry will become my neighborhood places to go have breakfast or lunch.

Worst service ever! How does it take 25 minutes to make an egg and cheese sandwich, when it is not even busy? I am sticking with Cafe Arpeggio and Sidewalk Cafe. At least you know you will get good coffee/food and not wait an outlandish amount of time.

I absolutely love the Cranberry Cafe. The people that work there definitely know what they're doing. I always get a bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel and it's amazing. I also love the Oreo Blast drink. The prices are pretty good and the environment is fun. If you want anything for breakfast or lunch and you're in Southie, definitely go here!

Good coffee, nice little restaucafe, good breakfast, The lunch is amazing the egg salad sandwiches are unbelievable. That's unfair I love the egg salad and so does everyone I go there with but maybe you wont. The rest of the menu is delicious as well. There is a turkey sandwich with apples and melted cheese that is amazing. It is a great place to grab lunch or just swing through for a coffee.

Stopped in with a friend when nothing else was open for lunch yet and it was a great surprise. Had the tomato bisque and grilled cheese w/ tomato as it was a snowy day so perfect comfort food. My friend's order was messed up but promptly fixed with no issues. I've tried to go here before but they have breakfast/lunch hours so hard to get to during the week. I will say they had some awesome looking smoothies so I'm pretty excited to try it again when it warms up. Great little find.

I really really want to love this place. It is super cute and close by. But there are some major issues. For one, a small caramel latte is like $4 and change. Seriously? No seriously? That makes Starbucks look like a Dunkin. And it isn't mind blowing or anything. The iced coffee at Bailey's blows it away. My second issue is the staff. I had bfast once with a friend and our waitress was such a space cadet. She never would come back to our table and we had to hunt her down for things like sugar. Then we needed a spoon for our coffee. And it was as if we were asking her something really annoying. I got an egg sando and it was such a pathetic looking plate. The english was barely toasted from what I remember and not sure if there was butter on it b/c it was very bland tasting. PS why are all these places so stingy with their splenda/equal? They never have them on the table! I hate having to ask b/c yes, even though I am getting a caramel latte, I want 2 splendas damn it! I also sent my husband once to get me a latte and he said he never wants to go back b/c they are mean. Thanks Cranberry! Now I have to always get it myself!

The food was awesome!! And well priced.. about $5 - $10 for a good size sandwich, chips and a drink. I went here with two of my girlfriends to catch up... to start, a man in the back gave up his table so the three of us could sit there, everyone was talking like they knew eachother, and I even ran into three different people I knew before I walked thru the door! It's got a very small-town Southie feel. I enjoyed everything about it.

Don't know why I continue to go back other than for the delicious coffee. The service is never friendly and 1 out of 10 times my sandwich is made correctly.

In general, I wouldn't say I am particularly hard to please when it comes to service and food but I will NEVER go to this cafe again. I even gave it THREE chances. DO NOT GO TO THIS HORRIBLE establishment. The staff is so rude (and that is putting it nicely). When you go to a get takeout, all you ask is that you get what you actually ordered and get it in a timely fashion. Nope. Forget it. You will get whatever they decide to give you, usually a huge departure from what you ordered. My egg white bagel with tomato and ketchup ended up being an egg, bacon and cheese. It was particularly ironic considering I am lactose intolerant and do not eat meat. It wasn't even salvageable when I did get home with it! The ONLY thing you are guaranteed to get, no matter what day or time, is really nasty rude girls who seemed annoyed to even be alive, let alone taking your order. You are putting them out for even coming in. Sure, the guys that come in as "regulars" and hit on the waitresses might good service. Heck, they even hand out a nice smack on the butt if they really like the particular waitress. Another hint, if you are planning to still try this place - bring a book, your taxes, etc. - you are going to be waiting a LONG time for your incorrect order and unless you want to listen to the gossip and nonsense coming from behind the counter, you will need another form of entertainment.
